The rest of the stay is unscheduled on purpose. Valladolid is a town that rewards walking, sitting and coming back to the same street twice.

The experience

Start with the earth.

The workshop happens with the Espadas family, in their own workshop, with clay sourced by hand and shaped the way it has been shaped here for generations.

You work with the material directly — no demonstration, no audience seating. Hands, water, clay, and the time a piece takes.

The people

A tradition carriedthrough generations.

The pottery program works with the Espadas family. Don Emilio and his family have maintained the technique for more than six generations, using hand-sourced materials.

Tulum Art Club's role is simply access: a direct, paid, ongoing relationship with the people who keep the craft working.
