We invite you to come and join us in our new event Life Drawing tomorrow. What is life drawing? Life drawing is the act of drawing a living person, normally this means drawing a nude model in real life. Why nude? The easiest answer is that clothes aren’t alive. Looking at a living thing, and particularly a living person, has a very different energy to it than an inanimate object. Capturing the life of the model is an important part of life drawing and this is better done without covering up the living parts of the person. Secondly, the human form is especially meaningful and fascinating for us because we ourselves are human beings. We don’t often have the chance to appreciate the body in a non-sexual way, since it generally is covered up. Our host @octoabi is an artist and photographer from Edinburgh, Scotland who is living here in Tulum. She studied art and then went further into photography, however continued with life drawing - her favourite kind of drawing! Every Wednesday, Tulum Art Club hosts an artist in house to showcase their art, tell stories and teach you new techniques that they themselves use in their own artworks. Our guest artist shares their experiences to push your creativity, learn something new and share with your fellow participants. To accompany the activity, we invite a musician to perform their original works in the cafe. This week we have Javiera, a Tulum based artist from Chile. She is a good friend of ours and we are so excited to have her sharing he skills here in our space. She will guide you and help you to create your very own botanical drawings. Come and explore your artistic side, we welcome everyone from established artists to come and grow their abilities to people who have never drawn more than a stick man! He is Jose or as the staff knows him “El Papi”. He is our bar manager at @tulumartclub. He started working with us 2 years ago, since then he has learn lots of stuff and we have learned from him too.
