He was born in San Francisco del Mar, Juchitán, Oaxaca in 1963. He received his training at the Rufino Tamayo Plastic Arts Workshop in Oaxaca, where he began in 1980, under the direction of Roberto Donís; and in 1984, to the Free Workshop of the Oaxacan Graphic, now with the orientation of Juan Alcázar. At the age of 25, he exhibited "Eddie Martínez" individually at the Galería Arte de Oaxaca. In 1983, he participated in "Cuatro artistas de Oaxaca", at the Carrillo Gil Museum in Mexico City and at the Mexican Cultural Institute of San Antonio, Texas. His pieces contain multiple characters, objects and motifs of daily life in chaotic and stimulating events.
